Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Bass anglers often talk about find a "pattern" that will catch fish at that particular time. For us there is a cat pattern. Hermit Cove on the north shore on Friday night. Saturday night get a boat and move, move, move until you locate the cats. It is almost exclusively worms for bait. The few bass being caught are on plastics in 25m to 35 ft. of water. You can see 'em cruising the bank but dragging something off the bank has been a waste of time. Some nice red ears have been eating meal worms and wax worms in 15 ft. of water but no limits. Overall we would say that fishing is just fair.
Best Cat Spots: Hermit Cove and Hermit Cove.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Eagle Point and Half Moon Cove in 25 to 30 ft.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Dropshotting 10" worms.
Water Temp. Still 77 to 79 degrees on surface.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. reported
Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. Rock and Fish Ranch will bring another 1000 lbs. of their table sized cats for your catching and dining pleasure. The promised hot weather did not kick our warmwater fish into high gear last week. Hopefully this will be the week. Also fishing at night is a great way to escape a hot house.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cat fishing......
